What does this really mean
Today is a historic day in the United States of America. For the first time in the history of the United States of America am African American man has accumulated enough votes to become the democratic nominee for the highest office in our land. Some of you might ask why I did not say an African American man is the nominee for democratic party, well this is still America and on a night in November 2000 we went to bed thinking Al Gore would be president and woke up to George Bush. I pray that you all enjoy this moment but know the road to the White House will be long fought. Tonight I go to sleep with the belief that Barak Obama will be the President of the United States of America. We must not allow any political rearranging to cause another debacle. It is imperative that we as a people focus our attention on this process and place intense scrutiny on the powers that be to carry out our will, the will of the people. Please do your part and in November we will be able to stand as a new country a country that is truly ready to lead the world. This is our chance to avoid the destruction rome experienced, to avoid the curse left on our people when the ancient cultures turned from God. This my friends is the opportunity to become the America described in the I have a dream speech. On August 28,2008 45 years after Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his speech of dreams on the mall in Washington Barak Obama will accept the nomination from the democratic party. From August to November we must be diligent in our work to not only fulfill kings dream but to provide new dreams for the children of today and tomorrow. Tonight I sleep with the hope of a new day, the hope that one day the words of great men will reign true and all the leaders of this land will be representative of the peoples choice.
Good Night fair city,
J. King
